		<itunes:summary>when i gave up making live radio it was always my intention that i would utilize the wonders of modern technology and the internets to continue my attack on the forces of dross that rule the so-called community radio station here in wagga and now i am finally set up again with a(n extremely modest but functional) home studio - so here goes... with a recession proof podcast version of the 'masheen ... a single hour for now.

you can still ring up and complain though. that will freak them out.

if you had an itunes subscription it should still work- or if you want to subscribe follow the simple instructions on the saftmasheen subscription page

or just to play this special recession proof episode point in itunes open the stream at this link

there should be a new saftmasheen again soon. so stay tuned.

		<itunes:summary>one of my favorite records of all time is this is a long way to drive for someone with nothing to think about by modest mouse. it's ok i know : they really suck now. but they used to be so so good. believe me. now it only took me about ten years to find out that the vinyl edition of this record has two extra tracks. ai oi. this is like discovering a long lost brother and sister that you didn't know you had. well i imagine it is something like that.

hey frank where are you?

yeah but i am not in the habit of checking to see what wikipedia has to say about my favourite albums you know. life is short. in any case of course the vinyl edition of this record cannot be had for love nor money. well it can. for lots and lots of money on ebay and places like that. but the good news is that one of the songs edit the sad parts appears twice on the ep interstate 8*. the bad news (which is good news for... ok that was a bad album but it had a couple of good-ish tracks on it! it is not anywhere near as bad as we were already dead which doesn't even have one good track i don't think let me check oh wait parting of the sensory is good very good actually it is not vintage mouse probably it doesn't have enough depth and it is not edgy enough - and i used to like spitting venom a bit but it has no legs and i can't listen to it anymore)

the bad news is that interstate 8 is well and truly deleted oop this monkey's gone to heaven but you can find it online some places (illegal of course but hey) like here but the other song which is called a manic depressive named laughing boy is a tricky one to find and it was not until i tracked down an obscure gmail account called modestmousesongs (login:interstate8) that i managed to locate it. the resolution is not that great :#124;

but here they are! and this is vintage modest mouse.

fuck yeah.

(* the one here is actually the demo version of edit the sad parts recorded in isaac brock's garage in issaquah, washington.)

enjoy.</itunes:summary>

		<itunes:summary>from the vaults : a blinder two-and-a-quarter-hour late night saftmasheen episode from 2005 which completely cheered me up when i re-listened to it today. it kicks off with tom verlaine's yonki time and the first hour is an assortment of new york sounds including the velvets etc - the second hour is a reggae/dub mix and in the third hour all sorts of zoned out instrumental stuff including mogwai and movietone with almost no talking. yay.
